Micro

Micro

Docker

This guide shows you how to deploy a self-hosted instance of Micro using Docker.

Prerequisites

You'll need a server with:

Installation

Create a new directory and navigate to it:

mkdir micro
cd micro

Create an .env file:

POSTGRES_USER=micro
POSTGRES_PASSWORD=VerySecurePassword123
POSTGRES_DB=micro

DATABASE_URL=postgresql://micro:VerySecurePassword123@database:5432/micro

Replace the password, e.g. with openssl rand -hex 32. Other environment variables go here too.

Create a config.toml file:

origin = "http://localhost:3000"

[auth.passkeys]
enabled = true

[assets.local]
enabled = true

Set origin to your instance's URL. Passkeys won't work otherwise.

Create a network:

docker network create micro

Create and run the database container:

docker run -d --name database --network micro --env-file ./.env -v micro-database:/var/lib/postgresql/data postgres:17-alpine

Create and run the Micro container:

docker run -d --name micro --network micro --env-file ./.env -p 3000:3000 -v ./config.toml:/app/config.toml -v micro-assets:/app/assets codeberg.org/nord-studio/micro:latest

Micro runs its database migrations on startup.

Go to your server's address on port 3000 to create your account and first workspace.
